District Cub Night Hike
Surrey Heath District are pleased to invite you to enter a team for the Cub Scout Night Hike 2021!
On Saturday 20th November teams of 4-6 Cubs from around Surrey Heath will navigate Lightwater Country Park, visiting various bases and taking part in Challenges.
They cubs will be awarded points based on teamwork, politeness, and how well they do at each challenge, as well as how well they navigate the course – not on the time they take.
The last winners were Bisley who received the coveted District Shield, can any other packs beat them and claim the shield for themselves? This will be presented to the winning team after the event at their HQ.
Information for Parents
We anticipate that the hike should take around 2-2.5 hours to complete.
The cost of the event is £3 per head – given to your group leaders.
The closing date for entries is 24th October 2021.
Information for Leaders
This year’s hike is the 1st since 2019 and will have some changes due to Covid-19 precautions. We will need to leave more time between teams to avoid crowding so to start with only one team per pack can enter. However, if we have less teams than slots then we will offer them on a first come first served basis – so might be a good idea to have a reserve team.
The trail that the Cubs will be following will include compass bearings, so some knowledge of how to use them will be useful.
Teams should be accompanied by two adults with Scouts CRB / DBS, preferably either parent helpers or other leaders from the group, as this will enable the Cub leaders to help run the event.
The District treasurer has requested that section leaders collect in team payments and the transfer the amount for the whole team/teams to the District bank account.

If you have cubs interested but cannot make a whole team let us know.
Further details will be sent on receipt of entry.
Once all entries are in a random draw will take place for start times and you will then be informed of your teams’ start time.
