District AGM 2023
Last week we held our District AGM at 1st Bisley Scout Group HQ, and it was brilliant to be joined by so many volunteers from across Surrey Heath.
Tim Pashen, our Chairman, led proceedings as we discussed our first year with our new District Commissioner team Mark and Leigh, which has seen growth in the District. This is especially true in filling vacant roles in Group and District teams, and while there are still some to go, these new appointments have a huge impact on the Scouting we are able to offer across each of the sections. We’re really excited to see what we can achieve in this next year!
We were also joined by Deputy County Commissioner for Surrey, Malcolm McKee, who shared some inspiring words on how clear it was this is a District actively taking steps to keep growing and improving.
Once we’d finished the reports section of the meeting, our District Commissioners presented lots of awards to members across the District, demonstrating just how amazing our volunteers are, and the huge amount of effort they put in week on week. Mark and Leigh also gave out their very first Commissioners Commendation awards – to four members of the District who had been incredibly helpful to them in taking on their new roles.
The awards presented were:
