Nominate someone for ADC Beavers, Scouts or Network

Dear Surrey Heath Scouters,

We need your help. We now need to fins new Assistant District Commissioners to support and drive our Beaver, Scout and Network Sections.

These roles will be crucial for improving the communication and co-operation of these Sections, as well as being responsible for selecting a team of District Leaders to assist them.

Speaking as the current ADC Beavers, it is a fantastic and worthwhile role (one I am loath to give up) with as much authority, freedom and support to plan and engage the Sections as is needed. A friendly, pro-active and supportive ADC can make all the difference and few roles in Scouting are as rewarding and misunderstood.

However, to be successful ADC’s must have the support of the Section and District as whole. To that end we would like you all to be allowed to nominate who you feel could be a good ADC, namely someone who wants to make a difference, improve our Scouting and have a semblance of flexibility and independence in managing their team.

The official role specifications can be found here, but what you need to consider is who you feel has the right personality and skill set to inspire and lead.

The rules of this process are simple –

1. You can only seek nomination yourself if you have at least one sponsor within District or County.
2. You can nominate more than one choice for each Section.
3. You can nominate for just one ADC or all of them.
4. Just email or call me with your name.
5. You do not have to approach your nominee or let them know.
6. Once the names are in, we will look at all the names, consider the number of votes and suitability with the leadership team, then approach the short-listed names before announcing a decision.

It is my intention as DC (Programme) to closely support our ADC’s, because I know how vital and effective ADC’s can be (under the right circumstances) in making our Scouting easier and more fun. As such they can expect my full direct support and that of District and  Groups.
