Surrey Heath Celebrates Three Young Leader Awards

Date: 5th Aug 2022 Author: Adrianne Goron

Aaron of 1st Frimley Green and Mytchett, and Oliver and Sebastian of 2nd Frimley (St. Peter’s), were awarded their Young Leader Belt, a top scouting award, on Sunday 24th July following their First Response training.

Young Leaders are usually Explorer Scouts who volunteer with a section as part of the leadership team. Aaron volunteers with Beavers, Oliver with Scouts and Sebastian with Cubs.

Surrey Heath District is piloting a new way of delivering the Young Leader programme and these three awards are the first signs of its success in the District.

Young leaders are very valuable within scouting as they act as role models for our young people, they develop their leadership skills and confidence, and provide our sections with verve and energy. They learn #skillsforlife and are well set to be scouting leaders of the future.

Congratulations to these three Explorers, they are a credit to the District and hopefully the first of many to achieve this award.
